Memorial Day Special - Hawaiian Falls offers free admission for military

Hawaiian Falls will offer free admission to all active duty military personnel to any of their three area waterparks, including parks in Garland, The Colony, and Mansfield, from 10:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Memorial Day, May 31.

"We want to honor the brave men and women who are sacrificing for our country," said Hawaiian Falls vice president Steve Mayer. "Because of their selfless service, we can enjoy a carefree summer. So we want to provide a day where they can relax at one of our waterparks."

Hawaiian Falls Torpedo to be First in World

Prepare to Launch the Human Torpedoes

Construction has begun at all three Hawaiian Falls waterparks on the new Torpedo thrill ride. The ride is scheduled to open at all three parks Memorial Day weekend.

"We’re very excited about this new thrill ride," said Hawaiian Falls vice president Steve Mayer. "While we have many attractions for younger children and families, this exhilarating ride will especially appeal to school-aged kids, teens and young adults."

Designed for riders 48 inches tall and over, the Torpedo will feature two speed slides coming off a four-story tower. Riders will step into a capsule at the top of the ride before a hatch will open under their feet, turning them into human torpedoes as they freefall at speeds up to 40 mph down the slide. Two riders can be launched simultaneously from two side-by-side launchers so guests can race to the finish.

Hawaiian Falls will be the first waterpark in the world to install the Torpedo ride. The rides are part of a $2.6 million investment in the Dallas/Fort Worth area parks.

"If you drive by one of the parks over the next several weeks, you’ll begin to see the ride take shape," said Mayer. "Weather permitting, we plan to start pouring concrete for the slide runouts over the next week or two. Steel will start arriving in mid-April and the launch capsules in early May. We’re right on schedule to have them all completed before opening day."

Regularly priced at $79.99, season passes for the 2010 season are on sale now starting at $59.99 at www.hfalls.com . Hawaiian Falls waterparks will open to the public Memorial Day weekend.

Hawaiian Falls The Colony hosts Ducktona 500 fundraiser

Like water off a duck’s back, Ducktona 500 raises more than $8,500 for Dallas Can! Academy

Just hours before the Ducktona 500 was slated to start, dark clouds filled the sky over Hawaiian Falls in The Colony. Band after band of showers swept across the waterpark, but it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd. And it certainly didn’t bother the bright yellow toy ducks as they “raced” around the Kona Kooler “Lazy River” at a leisurely pace.

Water park makes a splash

News-Mirror Writer
By Amanda Rogers

Being launched as a human torpedo might not sound like a fun way to spend an afternoon -- unless it's 90 degrees and there's cool water shooting you along at 40 miles per hour. Then it sounds like the new ride at Hawaiian Falls, the Torpedo.

Hawaiian Falls introduces the first-of-its-kind slide at its three Dallas-area parks this week, hurdling riders into a fastest way to have fun in town.
